FOR better or for worse.
As Father Paul Gribble spoke those words during their wedding ceremony on Saturday it brought a laugh from Priscilla and Kieren Shaw.
They were about to be declared husband and wife, but it wasn't quite the wedding they had planned.
Due to Cyclone Marcia they received notification on Friday their wedding venue and reception at the Mercure Capricorn Resort, Yeppoon, was cancelled.
Not only that, half their guests, including their photographer, were stuck in Brisbane unable to catch flights, and half the wedding attire did not arrive by courier.
Priscilla (nee Liesegang) was determined none of that was going to spoil their special day, so they looked for alternatives.
"I just wanted somewhere to get married," Priscilla said.
A quick look around Rockhampton on Saturday morning and they soon realised relocating to a park wasn't going to be an option, with most of them a mess of trees and debris.
They went on the search for a motel with power to get ready anyway, and found a room and much more.
Checking in to Motel 98, when Priscilla explained her situation to owners Doogan and Verity O'Hanlon, they suggested the bride and groom use the motel facilities for their wedding too.
"They are the best people in Rockhampton as far as I am concerned," Priscilla said.
While the men went out to chase up new suits, the motel staff sprang into action, cleaning the yards of debris left by the cyclone.
They also made the bride a bouquet out of flowers in the hotel reception and put together a cake from the kitchen.
They even put a call-out over Facebook for a hairdresser to help the bride and her bridesmaid, as they got ready.
Shortly after 4pm on Saturday the couple said "I do" in front of a small gathering in the motel gardens, including Priscilla's mother who luckily had arrived earlier in the week.
They followed the ceremony with dinner and drinks in Restaurant 98, and managed to do their bridal dance.
Mercure Capricorn Resort posted on its Facebook page on Saturday it was damaged, and had no power, and its phone lines were down.
The post said the resort would fully refund any pre-paid bookings.
After their memorable wedding, Priscilla and Kieren will now continue to North Queensland on their honeymoon as planned.
