Robbie joins a long list of accomplished actresses who have taken on the role.

Judi Dench, Bette Davis, Helen Mirren, Cate Blanchett and Miranda Richardson have all previously portrayed the Tudor queen to acclaim.

Actors David Tennant, Guy Pearce and Saoirse Ronan will also star the film which will chart the life of Queen Elizabeth as she faced political mutinies in the face of her rule.
