Manly to receive grandstand boost

MANLY has had a win off the field with news Brookvale Oval will receive $10million in federal government funding towards the construction of a $30million eastern grandstand.

Deputy prime minister Anthony Albanese made the announcement yesterday. The grandstand will provider covered and tiered seating for 4350 spectators, as well as corporate hospitality, meeting and community facilities.

The Sea Eagles have played at Brookvale Oval since 1947. Chairman Scott Penn paid tribute to the club's 'Our Brookvale Oval Committee' who he said had "worked tirelessly to create a plan that suits the needs of both the community and the Sea Eagles".
