Man remains in a critical condition after rescue from surf

A MAN pulled from the water at Broken Head and resuscitated remains in a critical condition at the Gold Coast University Hospital, police have said.

The man, aged in his 50s, was surfing about 300m south of Taylors Lake when he was believed to have suffered a heart attack.

Surf life Saving NSW spokesman Liam Howitt said the man was pulled to shore by other surfers, who performed CPR until paramedics could reach the man.

He was flown to directly to the Gold Coast University Hospital by the Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter.
