A MAN posted tributes to his partner just hours before he was arrested over her death.
"Why God didn't you look after my Tamara, she was a one in a million, need more people like her, why take her away from me and leave me in sadness," Victorian 47-year-old Steven Samaras wrote on his Facebook account early today TUESDAY.
The post came a day after a woman, believed to be 49-year-old Tamara Turner, was left outside the Mildura Base Hospital on Monday morning.
She died shortly after a male put her on a bench in the small country town.
Police said she had injuries that were consistent with a violent attack.
Mr Samaras was arrested in the Melbourne suburb of Preston just before 11am today.
His arrest followed a tip-off from a member of the public who spotted a Jeep Cherokee that was similar to one seen leaving the woman at the hospital.
Detectives from Darebin Crime Investigation Unit made the arrest but the Homicide Squad detectives are still in Mildura investigating the woman's death.
Mr Samaras's Facebook account said the couple was married in February.
It is understood Ms Turner moved to Australia from America and was a grandmother.
