Man at centre of abduction case hands himself in

A MAN accused of abducting a teenage mother and her infant son at knife-point has handed himself into police.

The 24-year-old allegedly forced his ex-partner and their eight-month-old boy into the back of his car before driving away from their home at Bankstown last Thursday.

An abduction alert was issued after the man allegedly let the 16-year-old girl out on a busy road but drove off with their son still in the back.

The car was discovered abandoned the following morning and the baby was later taken to the local police station by a relative.

Late on Tuesday, the man was arrested at the Bankstown station and charged with take/detain a person with intent to obtain advantage and take/detain child with intent to remove from parental control.

He was refused bail.
