THERE'S nothing cheesy about David Weir's chance meeting with a mystery lady outside a pizza shop on Saturday night.

After failing to grab her name or number, David put the word out on Facebook to see if anybody could help.

His message on Gladstone Classifieds has since gone viral, attracting almost 400 comments and likes since the weekend.

"It's absolutely outstanding. I'm bewildered...overwhelmed. I had no idea it's gone the way it's gone," David said.

At about 7pm on Saturday the Gladstone local was waiting for a taxi outside Pizza Capers on Goondoon St.

He spotted a fair-haired, Welsh lady trying to park her red Pajero in the taxi rank.

She got out of the car and struck up conversation with David.

"She said she had been on her own and I said I had been on my own for four years," he said. "Something just started to feel right.

"I asked if she was married or seeing someone and she said no," he said.

David suggested they should get coffee sometime soon. The mystery woman agreed. Then David's cab pulled up and the woman's pizza order was called.

The two left in different directions, with David winding down the window and waving goodbye. The lady returned the favour.

"And that was the last time we saw each other," David said.

He admits the following morning he went back to Pizza Capers, but they couldn't pass on her details.

David said the publicity had made him feel a little uneasy.

"We have to be prepared that she might not want to catch up," he said.

David has asked that the woman contact the Observer on 4970 3027.
