Cheers to marketing as stubby holder ends up in Canada

FROM little Gladstone to the sunny beaches of Western Australia, to freezing Canada one Gladstone business has seen its simple marketing tool go international.

Canadian traveller Keith Sheldon recently emailed The Hose Shed in Gladstone, telling the tale of his attachment to one of their stubby coolers, or 'beer cozy' as he calls it.

"Three years ago I was travelling in Australia with a friend of mine," Mr Sheldon wrote. "We were doing some snorkelling on the Ningaloo Reef at Coral Bay.

"This is where I found, laying in the sand on the beach, a beer cozy with your business on it. I picked it up, put it on my beer and instantly dubbed it The Hose Shed.

"From Australia I continued on through South East Asia. I had little belongings with me as I was backpacking for a full year, but every day I would make sure I had The Hose Shed with me."

Now living in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Mr Sheldon is on a mission to replace his well-worn travel memento.

The story entertained staff at The Hose Shed and owner Troy Ferguson. The business is mailing Mr Sheldon a few new coolers to last him into the future, plus a shirt.
