Local in One Day second eleven
BANGALOW cricketer Lewin Maladay has been in named as wicket keeper-batsman in the Cricket NSW Second XI team to play next Monday in a One Day match against New Zealand side Canterbury at Hurstville Oval in Sydney.
Both teams will be captained by NSW Blues squad member Nick Larkin and include 16-year-old Newcastle batsman Jason Sangha, who recently became the youngest player in 91 years to represent NSW in a Second XI match.
Maladay, who played most of his junior cricket for Byron bay has represented ACT/NSW Country at the U/19 National Championships for the last two seasons.
Last year he was joint winner of the Kookaburra Under-21 Player of the Year award.
"Lewin ranks pretty highly among talented young cricketers I've seen and other coaches have the same opinion," said Far North Coast Regional Academy coach Michael Wood.
He recently moved to Sydney to play for the University of NSW in Sydney First Grade.
