LISMORE golfer Rhein Gibson shot a provisional world record round of 55 on Saturday (US time) at his local course in Oklahoma.

The 26-year-old carded a 16-under-par on the River Oaks course.

Gibson left the Northern Rivers nine-years ago to study in the States and is currently playing on the Golfweek National Pro Tour.
