Lions skipper says injured Rich will be missed

AFL: Brisbane Lions captain Jed Adcock says the team has been robbed of one of its most skilful players with confirmation yesterday that midfielder Daniel Rich would miss the rest of the season after rupturing his ACL against the Gold Coast on Saturday.

"Just having a bloke that can kick the ball like he does in the team, we probably lack a little bit of skill, and his penetrating kick can break the lines, get over the midfield and get it into the forward line quick," he said.

It's the second major injury for Rich (pictured) in 12 months - he missed six weeks last season with a broken shoulder. Meanwhile, Carlton captain Marc Murphy has promised fans a more aggressive effort against Melbourne this week after his team's embarrassing 81-point loss to Essendon on Sunday night.

Murphy said "a few home truths were said" at a players meeting convened by the leadership group following the defeat.
