Lin witness breaks down in court

A KEY witness in the Lin family murder trial broke down on Tuesday as a 000 recording of the moment she found the bodies of her relatives was played in court.

Kathy Lin, 41, made the hysterical call when she discovered the battered bodies of her sister, brother, his wife and two nephews in their North Epping home on July 18, 2009.

Her husband, Robert Xie, is accused of carrying out the massacre as an act of revenge against Ms Lin's brother.

According to the Herald, Ms Lin was recorded screaming at the operator "I need an ambulance. I need an ambulance" before saying "I think somebody's killed - I think somebody's killed my brother's family".

Ms Lin, whose legal team has repeatedly requested she not give evidence, reportedly sobbed as the recording was played.
