Late goal sinks Rams

A last-minute goal proved a devastating blow for Byron Bay in their match on Sunday against runaway competition leaders Goonellabah.

After trailing by a goal late into the second half, the Rams looked like they had snatched an away draw after Kazuhiro Tsukamoto put the ball in the net from a Tim Knight cross.

But shortly after and with only seconds remaining in the match, a defensive lapse saw Goonellabah slot home the winning goal.

While disappointed with the result, Rams coach Peter Ware praised the efforts of his players who he said played with spirit and enthusiasm.

The loss puts the Rams out of the top five.
