ONLY just getting into first gear, this year's Geneva motor show is already going full throttle.
Lamborghini got the party started with the Aventador LP 750-4 Superveloce (SV for short).
With increased power, lower weight and improved aerodynamics, it can reach 0-100kmh in 2.8 seconds and has a top speed of more than 350kmh.
This results in a power-to-weight-ratio of 2.03kg/hp.
With the extra power, the 0-100kmh sprint time is 0.1 seconds faster than the LP 700-4 while the top speed is similar.
The Superveloce's lightweight forged rims in matt black measure 20 inches at the front and 21 inches at the rear and are optionally equipped with central locking mounts, as in motorsport. The standard-fit Pirelli P Zero Corsa sports tires ensure maximum grip, with carbon ceramic brakes as standard.
Honda Civic Type R
The wait is almost over. Billed as a "race car for the road", the all-new Honda Civic Type R claims to "set new standards in the high-performance front-wheel drive hatchback segment".
Under the bonnet will be a 2.0-litre turbo engine, which Honda says is the most extreme and high-performing powerplant in the 22-year history of the red 'H' badge, "signalling the start of a new performance era for the Honda brand".
The engine develops 228kW at 6500rpm and peak torque is 400Nm at 2500rpm. It achieves the 0-100kmh sprint in 5.7 seconds with a 270kmh top speed.
Audi Q7 e-tron quattro
Audi has created its first diesel plug-in hybrid with Quattro all-wheel drive.
Able to travel up to 54km on electric-only power, it has a combined range of more than 1400km. That means it has an average fuel consumption of 1.7 litres/100km.
And you don't have to travel at snail's pace in the process…this big brute of a machine can accelerate from 0-100km in six seconds, and continues to a top speed of 223kmh.
Like all Audi hybrid models, the Q7 e-tron quattro has also been designed as a parallel hybrid. The 3.0-litre TDI is the latest-generation V6 diesel engine, delivering 275kW of power and 700Nm of torque, all while emitting less than 50g/km of CO2.
Range Rover Evoque Convertible
Claiming the title as the world's first premium compact SUV convertible, Range Rover will release a drop-top Evoque in 2016.

Forty metres below the streets of London, UK, the first prototype of Land Rover's new Range Rover Evoque Convertible was granted exclusive access to the 42km network of Crossrail tunnels for a development test with a difference.
Engineers were allowed the opportunity to drive the disguised Evoque Convertible with its roof lowered in complete privacy.
Land Rover will announce further details about its exclusive new premium compact SUV Convertible later this year. It will be built alongside the five door and coupe Evoque at Land Rover's Halewood plant in the UK.
Bentley EXP 10 Speed 6
Bentley Motors has revealed the EXP 10 Speed 6 concept, a British interpretation of a high performance two seater sportscar.
"EXP 10 Speed 6 is one vision for Bentley's future - a powerful, exquisite and individual concept. The showcar has the potential to be the new pinnacle luxury two-seat sports car. It offers thrilling, driver-oriented performance, complete with trademark modern Bentley luxury and effortlessness," Bentley chairman and chief executive Wolfgang Dürheimer said.
Japanese luxury marque Infiniti took the wraps off its QX30 Concept, a clear signal of its desire to enter the premium compact segment.
It sits on 21-inch wheels, boasts a lower bumper, sculpted skid plates and distinctive roof racks.
In addition, the Q60 Concept made its European debut at the show, hinting at Infiniti's next sports coupe. The two-door concept is a unique combination of eye-catching contours, the promise of heart-pumping dynamics, and highest-quality finishes, giving premium customers a fresh and expressive design icon to which they can aspire.
