Labor demands investigation into McVeigh's companies

THE Australian Labor Party wants an investigation into apparent links between Member for Groom John McVeigh and a series of companies, including one which has contracts with government departments, the Daily Telegraph is reporting.

Mr McVeigh's register of interest shows he and his wife have a holding in Ellis Foster McVeigh (QLD) Pty Ltd.

The company helps businesses create marketing, product and brand strategies and was founded by Professor Susan Ellis, Grant Foster and John McVeigh.

The Telegraph is reporting the Victorian branch of the company has consulting contracts with several government agencies.

Mr McVeigh said he was not a shareholder of the Victorian company and the two consultancies were separate companies.

Mr McVeigh said his Queensland business was inactive and there was absolutely no conflict of interest.

He said he had no financial stake or benefit in the Victorian company.

The opposition is demanding the links be examined.
