Kyrgios stuns Djokovic in straight sets

NICK Kyrgios has produced one of the greatest performances of his career, defeating world No.2 Novak Djokovic in straight sets to reach the semi-finals of the Mexican Open.

In the first ever meeting between the pair, Kyrgios added another huge career scalp with a 7-6 (11-9) 7-5 victory built on a phenomenal serving performance.

The 21-year-old Australian hammered down 25 aces to Djokovic's two but showed his full range of skills in one of the most complete performances of his career.

Kyrgios saved two set points to win an epic first set tiebreaker against the tournament's top seed, before clinching the only break of the match to seal the second set and a memorable win.

Kyrgios improved his career record against top-10 players to 11-17. He has now beaten all of tennis's "big four" - though his only win over Andy Murray (at this year's Hopman Cup) was not at ATP level.

Kyrgios will face Sam Querrey in the last four after the big-serving American upset Austrian fourth seed Dominic Thiem. Rafael Nadal meets Marin Cilic in the other semi.
