Kyaisha wins Bangalow Idol

Bangalow Public School staged its own ‘Bangalow Idol’ last week, again showcasing some amazing talent.

Organised by teacher Lin Culbert, this year’s ‘Idol’ attracted many aspiring student performers, with the final 12 selected after a rigorous audition process.

They played guitar or keyboard, sang, or danced in front of family members, teachers, a trio of discerning judges and the entire school population, at a special assembly at the school on Friday afternoon.

The judges awarded Year 6 student Kyaisha Ellbourn with a well-deserved win for a sensational hoop-dance routine.

Year 4 student Grace Hughes was runner-up for a wonderful singing and piano performance of one of her own compositions and the encouragement award went to Riley Deacon from Year 6 for a great guitar performance of Led Zeppelin’s ‘Stairway to Heaven’.

MC for the afternoon was Year 4 student Louis Spiteri, who was so adept behind the microphone that he warranted a place in the finals himself.
