Kickstarter announces Australian launch

Kickstarter will now be allowing Australian projects

POPULAR crowdfunding platform Kickstarter will soon be allowing projects from Australia and New Zealand to use their service.

Kickstarter is an online platform that allows anyone with an idea to seek funding from the public, using popular support instead of venture capitalists or traditional gatekeepers to startup funding.

Previously only businesses from the US or the UK could begin Kickstarter projects, but an announcement this morning means local entrepreneurs have access to the largest crowdfunding service online.

Two Kickstarter 'schools' will be held in Australia, one in Sydney and one in Melbourne, to teach hopefuls how to make the most of the platform.

No official date has yet been set for the launch.
