Kian kills it in Kiama to seal semi spot

FAR North Coast surfers produced mixed results at the Australian Junior Surfing Tittles in Kiama yesterday.

Suffolk Park surfer Kian Shahar was among the standouts in his first competition at this level.

He made it through to the semi-finals of the under-16 boys after finishing second in his heat.

Shahar registered a 12.50 (out of a possible 20), finishing just behind Queensland surfer Connor Lyons (12.57).

Mikey Wright did enough to advance in the under-18 boys.

The talented Lennox-Ballina Boardriders club member finished second in his heat. He scored a near-perfect 9.80 on his first wave and locked in a combined total of 14.63.

Lennox Head surfer Cali McDonagh missed out on a spot in the under-18 girls semi-finals. She finished fourth in her second round heat.

More than 200 surfers have competed in the event this week.

All FNC competitors are representing the Surfing NSW team.

The event is scheduled to finish on Saturday.
