INDIAN all-rounder Harmanpreet Kaur has led the Sydney Thunder to an eight-wicket win over the Melbourne Stars in their Women's Big Bash League clash in Albury.

Kaur claimed 4-27 with the ball to help restrict the Stars to 9-116 before thumping 30 not out off 21 balls to steer her side home with seven balls to spare.

The spinner had triggered a Stars collapse of 6-26 in their last six overs before later smashing three fours and two sixes.

The result means each of the eight teams has finished the first round with a 1-1 record. The competition breaks for three days before the weekend.
