Julia Gillard to headline Writers Festival
FORMER Prime Minister Julia Gillard will visit the Northern Rivers as part of the line up announced today by Byron Bay Writers Festival 2015 organisers.
Five Australian women will have top-billing at the festival, to be held from Friday, August 7 to Sunday, August 9.
Festival Director Edwina Johnson said the first names to the list of writers attending the festival besides the former PM are Helen Garner, Joan London, Jackie French and Kate Grenville.
Ms Johnson said securing the former Prime Minister was "a particular coup."
Ms Gillard's memoir, My Story, is an account of her time in office and the life she is now making for herself as a professor and advocate for women and education.
Ms Gillard was Prime Minister of Australia for three years and three days.
Early bird tickets to the Byron Bay Writers Festival will go on sale from April 14, until the full program is announced on June 12.
