Joshua keeping focus on Molina fight, not Klitschko

BOXING: Promoter Eddie Hearn says his fighter, Briton Anthony Joshua, will have the blinkers on as he prepares to fight Mexican Eric Molina next month.

The WBA has sanctioned a championship title bout between Joshua, 27, and Wladimir Klitschko, 40, for early next year.

But, as Hearn told the BBC: "It is all irrelevant if he doesn't beat Molina on December 10.”

"Joshua is happy to sign for the Klitschko fight, but it would be a terrible mistake for him to start thinking about him, preparations for that fight, where it's going to be, where the training camp going to be.

"Anthony won't let himself give even 5% of his focus to Klitschko until his hand is raised in Manchester (against Molina).

"After that we can begin the build-up to what I believe is one of the biggest fights in British boxing history.”

Joshua, unbeaten in 17 bouts, will put his IBF title on the line against the 34-year-old Molina (25-3).

"Molina can hurt any heavyweight and Joshua is no exception,” said Hearn, who added that Klitschko would be ringside for the bout.

Klitschko lost his IBF, WBO and WBA belts to Tyson Fury last November.

Fury, who has admitted to taking cocaine to deal with depression, has since vacated the WBA and WBO titles.
