Jets keen to rediscover strong early-season form

FOOTBALL: Newcastle midfielder Wayne Brown says the Jets must return to the form shown in the first three rounds of the A-League season if they are to get anything from their clash with Melbourne City tonight.

Englishman Brown has signed for another year on top of his original two-year deal.

The former Fulham player was key to the Jets staying unbeaten in the first three games before losing their last two.

He said the team had begun the season well with draws against Adelaide and Western Sydney Wanderers and a thumping 4-0 win over the Brisbane Roar.

"I think you have seen from all the results that it is going to be a really tight league because anyone is capable of beating anyone on their day,” Brown said.

"We need to get back to the performances that we had at the start of the season and get the results that we did.

"We are working hard on the training field day in, day out, and hopefully we can start putting some points on the board.”
