Jennifer Lawrence scolds reporter for looking at his phone

JENNIFER Lawrence is dividing social media with comments she made in a post-Golden Globes interview.

Taking questions from press in the media room after winning the award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture Comedy or Musical, Lawrence scolded a journalist for not looking up from his phone.

The actress has been praised by some for calling out the behaviour, while others have branded it insensitive as the journalist's first language most likely isn't English and that he was using his phone to read out the question.

Twitter user @pamnonga called her "culturally incompetent" for misunderstanding the reporter's conduct, while another likened Lawrence to a "teacher who's tired of everyone paying more attention to their phones than to her".

Lawrence was up against her friend Amy Schumer in the Best Actress category and the pair presented highlights from their respective films Joy and Trainwreck during the ceremony.
