Jason Day focused on winning the FedEx Cup
GOLF: Australian Jason Day says he is focused on winning the FedEx Cup after declaring himself fit for the season-ending Tour Championship in Atlanta tomorrow.
Day, who pulled out halfway through last week's BMW Championship with a back strain, is 10th in the standings for the $10m bonus for the FedEx Cup.
To win the bonus, Day must take out the Tour Championship, and Chris Kirk (1) must finish fifth or worse, Billy Horschel (2) finish in a three-way tie for third or worse, Bubba Watson (3) finish in a three-way tie for second or worse and world No.1 Rory McIlroy (4) must finish tied second or worse. Despite those unlikely scenarios, Day said he would give it a real crack.
"There are some issues with the back I have to take care of but they can wait till Monday and the off-season," he said.
Adam Scott (12th) John Senden (17th) and Geoff Ogilvy (25th) round out the four-man Australian contingent.
