GAME of Thrones fans may be desensitised to all those sex scenes by now, but that doesn't mean it's gotten any less awkward for the actors who have to perform in them.

Jon Snow (Kit Harington) and Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) have gotten hot and heavy with their fair share of partners over the course of the series' seven seasons, but it wasn't until they had to get up close and personal with one another that things got super weird.

Speaking to Vanity Fair about working with Clarke, Harington described the pair's close-knit friendship - and how much more awkward that made filming their climactic love scene at the end of season seven (right after we'd all learned that they were related, which, uh … complicated things).

"If you've known someone for six years, and they're best friends with your girlfriend, and you're best friends with them, there is something unnatural and strange about doing a love scene," he admitted.

"We'll end up kissing and then we're just p***ing ourselves with laughter because it's so ridiculous."

While Clarke and Harington did not share the screen with one another until the latest season, the two became pals while promoting the show early on, and Clarke evidently wound up befriending Harington's now-fiancee, Game of Thrones vet Rose Leslie.

This isn't the first time the duo has spoken about how bizarre it was having to get intimate with one another; in a video released last year, Clarke and Harington made jokes, silly faces, and gagging noises.

"For us, us actors, it's just weird. The reality of what they are to each other ... [gagging noise] might be the reaction," Clarke described.
