OPINION: I’m being extra vigilant how about you?

OPINION: Ebola symptoms include nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea - the same as food poisoning and although health authorities say it only spreads through human-to-human transmission via direct contact with fluids, it's still scary.

The symptoms are too common so I think I will be extra vigilant and be more proactive and see a doctor when I have similar symptoms, at least until the disease is under control.

You come into contact with people all the time. It's hard to tell who has had contact with someone with Ebola-like symptoms or someone who has touched something that's contaminated.

Reports say you are at risk of getting it if you touch contaminated vomit, blood and urine and other bodily fluid like mucus.

I find it hard to understand that some nurses and doctors who know to take precautions still caught the disease which makes me wonder if there's more about the disease that we don't know or are we all a little too paranoid?

Are authorities keeping the disease under control?

A friend of mine works for an airline that is based in Texas in the US and said a couple of employees had been in contact with one of the infected nurses.

The two were told to come to work anyway unless they started showing signs of Ebola.

While my friend is concerned, there's nothing she can do but wait and see what happens.

I think since none of us can do anything at the moment, hygiene should be our main priority.

We're lucky to be living in a country that prioritises health and for that, I feel somewhat safe.

I truly hope Ebola is not an easy disease to catch.
