Hyundai ix35 SUVs and Great Wall V200 utes recalled

HYUNDAI will recall more than 6500 ix35 SUVs to deal with a seatbelt issue.

The vehicles to be recalled were produced from August 23, 2011 to 24 February, 2012, with the VIN range KMHJT81BLCU373966 to KMHJU81VSCU485865.

The tensioning cable in the pretensioner assembly is not securely crimped and there is a risk that the tensioning cable may be unleashed and cause an injury to an occupant. If the cable breaks during pretensioner deployment, the cable will not able to restrain the occupant to its full capacity during an accident.

A letter will be sent to affected owners. The vehicle can be returned to the nearest Hyundai dealership to have the seat belt tensioner replaced.

Meanwhile, Great Wall will also recall more than 9000 vehicles to fix a wiring defect.

The wiring harness on V200 dual cab utes may come in contact with the bottom of the radiator while driving and wear through the outer protective sleeve.

The defect may cause an earthing point, preventing the wiring system from functioning correctly and resulting in the alternator dash light coming on and the battery going flat. In extreme cases the wiring harness may melt internally.

A letter is being sent to affected customers advising them to contact their authorised GWM dealer and make an appointment for their vehicles to be inspected.
