Hundreds of competitors set to race during Byron festival

PLACES are quickly filling for this year's Byron Bay Tri and MultiSport Festival.

This year's event, which takes place at the weekend of May 10-11, again promises various races for all standards of competitors.

Hundreds of entries have already been received for the two-day event, which features sections of different distances.

Saturday's first day of action will feature the competitive events, including the junior aquathon and the big and little kids' aquathons.

The main race of the day is the senior triathlon, which will cover the Olympic distance of a 1.5km swim, 40km ride and 10km run.

An Olympic relay event, open to teams of two or three people and covering the same distance, is also planned.

Day two is for more light-hearted contestants, with gentler races on the schedule.

A fun heart starter run - featuring a run and swim, both of 1.5km - takes centre stage.

A 5km Run for Mum and a Mother's Day walk over the same distance are also planned.

All are welcome to participate in the event. Competitors from across the region and interstate are expected to attend.
