Mullumbimby women’s hockey team, the Hot Shots, won a Certificate of Achievement award in sport at the recent Australia Day celebrations in Murwillumbah.

Hot Shots are a team of players, aged from 40-59, who have played successfully in the bi-annual Pan Pacific Masters Games on the Gold Coast over many years.

The team is made up of players from the Mullumbimby Hockey Club Division 1 and 2 teams playing in the Tweed Border competition – with only two players being reigned in from other clubs.

In November last year, the team entered the over-40 competition against 11 other teams from a number of countries as well as interstate.

The team, under the guidance of coach Suzanne Lofts, went through the competition undefeated, with an amazing score of 48 goals for and none against to take out the gold medal.

Mullumbimby Hockey Club is now taking registrations for all ages for the season 2011.

Competition begins on April 1.

If you would like to join the club, phone Katherine on 0417 427963, Julie on 0414 841816 or Abel on 0421 439927.
