Horses to put on a show at the Byron Bay Equestrian Centre

THIS weekend Byron Bay Equestrian Centre horses around as they present their equestrian gala spectacular, Equillius.

A night packed full of amazing acts of horsemanship including student and professional performances in trick riding, vaulting (gymnastics on horseback), liberty, dressage, circus acts and more.

Proclaimed as a "beautiful show of equestrian and circus pursuits - a gorgeous tribute to our majestic, four legged friends at the BBEC," manager of the equestrian centre, Tesse Ferguson said the show had something for everyone.

The centre has called in the help of professionals from all over the country to perform alongside their students and squad members, including a national level dressage representative who will be performing a demonstration.

Ms Ferguson said the acts within the gala show the "really creative and beautiful side" of working with horses.

"It really shows what great teamwork can go on."

Ms Ferguson said she loved the work they did at the Byron Bay Equestrian Centre, as it combined two of her great loves.

"I've had horses since I was a little girl, but I've also been into performing arts, so getting to combine them is great," Ms Ferguson said.

"I do particularly love the vaulting; it's like dancing and gymnastics on a horse."

Ms Ferguson said she's a little sad that she won't be performing on the night (she's pregnant), but she can't wait to see what her students, squad and the professionals pull out for the crowd.
