Hockeyroos not taking Italians lightly in clash

FOUR goals from penalty-corner specialist Jodie Kenny (pictured) in a 4-2 win over India set the Hockeyroos up for a quarter-final against Italy at the World League semi-finals in Belgium.

The haul took Kenny's total in four games at the Olympic qualifying tournament to nine. Australia was second in its pool after victories over Poland, Belgium and India, and a 2-0 loss to New Zealand.

Italy finished third in its pool after a 4-0 win against France, draws with Japan and South Korea and a 9-0 loss to Holland, but Hockeyroos coach Adam Commens said his team would not take the world No.16 lightly.

"They've got some experienced players and they're pretty sound technically and tactically," he said.

"We'll need to be on our game and take our opportunities, otherwise you get in a real tooth and nail struggle and that's something that you don't want to get in with teams like Italy."
