Blyth celebrates milestone by thumping Spain

AUSTRALIAN captain Madonna Blyth celebrated her 250th game for the Hockeyroos with a 5-0 thumping of Spain on day one of the World League in London.

Georgia Nanscawen's goal just before half-time opened the floodgates as Claire Messent, Kellie White and Emily Hurtz, and an own goal, completed the rout in the second half yesterday.

Blyth is now the fifth player to reach the 250th milestone for the Hockeyroos after Nikki Hudson (303), Rochelle Hawkes (279), Karen Smith (271) and Katrina Powell (252).

The Aussies play England tonight. The top three teams automatically qualify for the 2014 World Cup.
