Drugs for HIV, psoriasis and cancer added to the PBS

MEDICINES to help treat scalp psoriasis, HIV and cancers have been added to the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme.

Health Minister Peter Dutton announced the 10 new listings on Wednesday, as well as falls in prices for 121 other drugs.

The new listings, he said, would also help treat Type 2 diabetes, giving access to "new treatments" with multiple medicines earlier, Mr Dutton said.

Drugs now listed including tobramycin, for bacterial lung infections, tocilzumab for juvenile idiopathic arthritis and panitumumab for treating colorectal cancers.

The coming price changes will also lower the cost of rabeprazole for gastric reflux and simvastatin for high cholestoral, effective April 1.
