Emergency surgery for hit-and-run victim as search continues

POLICE were last night continuing their search for the driver of a car that hit and seriously injured a pedestrian at Murwillumbah on Saturday.

A 21-year-old man suffered serious leg and internal injuries when he was hit by a vehicle on Cane Road while walking towards Condong.

The vehicle failed to stop and the man yesterday remained at The Tweed Hospital after undergoing emergency surgery on Saturday.

Crash investigators from Ballina are investigating the events leading up to the man being injured.
