Homicide detectives are hunting 39-year-old Colin Maxwell Farrow, who was last seen in the Illawarra region.

He has tattoos of a cross on his lower left arm, hinge on his left elbow, crucifix/cross/swastika on his upper night arm and the word "mum" on his right wrist.

Police have described Farrow has "highly dangerous" and have warned members of the public not to approach him but call 000.
