Help RSL pay for memorial gates upgrade

THE Byron Bay Memorial Gates upgrade will start this month, with three huge natural finish granite columns to be added to the existing structure.

The work will be completed by Anzac Day and cost $200,000.

However, $80,000 still needs to be found to pay for the work and to this end a new subcommittee, the Memorial Gates Upgrade Byron Bay Sub-Branch, has been formed and a fundraising account set up into which local individuals and businesses can deposit donations.

The current iron gates were built in 1955 with the names of those who did not return from the First World War on the left hand pillars and the names of those who died in The Second World War on the right.

Bank details are: BSB 062 514. A/N 010467769.
