Heat is on to decide Sausage King

FAR North Coast butchers will compete in the next heat of the annual NSW/ACT Sausage King Competition on Friday from 10am at the Grafton College of TAFE.

They will compete against butchers from the New England and Mid North Coast area and if successful will compete in the State Final on October 9 in Newcastle.

Judges made up of consumers and trade experts will be testing the uncooked and cooked appearance of the sausages and taste testing them for their flavour and texture.

The categories are:

  • Traditional Australian
  • Traditional Australian Pork
  • Poultry
  • Australian Lamb/Open Class
  • Continental
  • Gourmet/Open Class

The eventual State winners of the six categories will then proceed to the National Sausage King Finals to be held in Launceston, Tasmania where they will compete against the winners from every state in Australia for the title of National Sausage Kings.
