SLAVEN Bilic has celebrated his 49th birthday in style as his West Ham side moved off the bottom of the English Premier League ladder with a 2-0 win over Aaron Mooy's Huddersfield Town.

It was the Hammers' first win of the EPL campaign and also ended the Terriers' unbeaten start to the season.

Bilic had been under fire to get results and admitted the sacking of Crystal Palace coach Frank de Boer after just 77 days had been on his mind ahead of the game.

A deflected strike by Pedro Obiang in the 72nd minute and a goal from Andre Ayew five minutes later, when he stabbed home a loose ball from close range after a corner, were enough to earn the important victory.

It was West Ham's first home game of the season as the London Stadium was being used for the world athletics championships in August.

The Hammers moved up to 18th place, still in the relegation zone, while Huddersfield stayed sixth with seven points from its four games.
