Hamilton on pole for Chinese Grand Prix
LEWIS Hamilton will start in pole position at the Chinese Grand Prix for the sixth time in his career, with Australia's Daniel Ricciardo starting fifth.
The Briton, stunned by Sebastian Vettel in Melbourne two weeks ago, pipped the German by two tenths of a second in Shanghai, with Mercedes teammate Valtteri Bottas and Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen on row two for Sunday's race
pAfter a disappointing weekend at his home grand Prix in Melbourne a fortnight ago, which saw him retire from the race after 29 laps, Ricciardo will start from fifth.
"We hope we have hit the nail on the head with the balance of the car," Hamilton said.
"The Ferrari looks fast, we knew it was going to be close so we had to pull out all the stops. That was a very perfect lap. We had not major issues.
"I'm very happy and super grateful. It's more exciting than ever for me, we're really fighting, this is what racing is all about.
"It makes you raise the bar every time you go out."
