Grants for local volunteers

LOCAL volunteer organisations are being reminded they have until the end of next week to apply for one-off grants under the Volunteer Grants 2010 initiative.

“The grants from $1000 to $5000 are available to eligible non-profit organisations to buy equipment and to cover petrol costs for volunteers," Federal MP for Page, Janelle Saffin, said.

“This year for the first time the grants can also be used for training such as first aid training or cultural awareness for volunteers, and can also be used to pay for any necessary background checks."

Applications for this round of grants close at 2pm on Friday, April 16.

To apply, or for more information, visit or call 1800 183 374.
