Accused rapist on murder charge

A MAN accused of the attempted murder of a Rockhampton grandmother on Australia Day will have the charge upgraded to murder.

Police this afternoon confirmed the charges will be upgraded at the 18-year-old's next court appearance on April 28.

The man was today brought in to Rockhampton to be re-interviewed.

The man is also charged with rape.

The grandmother died in a Brisbane hospital on February 3.
