GRANDMAS don't usually run marathons, but Kerrian Sawyer said she has never considered herself normal.
The adored mother, grandma and nurse is preparing to complete a gruelling seven marathons in seven states across seven days as part of the Bravehearts 777 Marathon.
The 48-year-old simply enjoys a challenge.
The marathon mum will join 30 other participants from across Australia.
Runners will raise awareness and vital funds to educate, empower and protect Australian kids from child sexual assault.
To kick start her fundraising for the children's charity, she held a colour run on Sunday which raised around $8000.
The challenge will kick off in Perth on June 26, followed by 42.2km marathons in Adelaide, Melbourne, Hobart, Canberra, Kingscliff and the Gold Coast.
"My family has been affected by child sexual assault and tackling the 777 is a way I can contribute and make a positive change in the lives of children across Australia," Mrs Sawyer said.
"This challenge is something that scares me but that also attracts me to it."
