Grand final win like Olympic gold, says Crows star
ADELAIDE star Erin Phillips says winning an AFLW premiership with the Crows would be like winning a gold medal at the Olympics.
A champion basketballer, Phillips has won two WNBA championships - one with the Indiana Fever and the other Phoenix Mercury - and won a silver medal with the Opals at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, a gold medal at the world championships in Brazil in 2006 and a bronze in Turkey in 2014.
"It's hard to kind of put in perspective how big this is because this is the inaugural season and although it's only a national-wide competition, it almost feels like winning a gold medal at an Olympics or world championships.
"It's going to be absolutely up there (in achievements) if we do pull it off, it'll be something very, very special.”
Phillips is the daughter of Greg Phillips, an eight-time premiership player with Port Adelaide Magpies in the SANFL, and she said she would lean on her dad for some advice ahead of the decider.
"I'll have to,” she said on RSN927.
"I only spoke to him for a little bit last night but I'm sure we'll have a father-daughter debrief when I get home.
"He so pumped, really, really excited. We're just figuring out where the Grand Final is so he can book his ticket. He'll be there.”
