Golf comp to raise funds for Edyn Fawcett

EDYN Fawcett is a young lady who shines at both school and sport – not only is she an enthusiastic member of Nippers, PSSA netball, representative netball for Brunswick/Byron, Ocean Shores netball, little athletics, school age rep for athletics, but she also topped Year 6 at Brunswick Heads Public School with the academic excellence award.

But three months ago all these activities were put on hold when Edyn was diagnosed with a brain tumour.

She has had surgery, and is currently undergoing chemotherapy and radiotherapy in Brisbane, and her mother Robyn has had to give up work to help Edyn through the treatment.

The local community is rallying round to help lift some of the financial burden on the family, to allow them to be able to commit wholly to the current treatment and recovery period.

There has already been an impromptu barbecue at Torakina Beach and a mufti bowls day at Brunswick Heads Bowling Club, both very successful financially and with a huge response from the community, and now there is another event in the pipeline.

A golf competition and barbecue will be held at the Ocean Shores Country Club on Sunday, February 22, with sign-on at the pro shop and shotgun start at 1.30pm. Bookings on 6680 1008.
