IT WAS supposed to be just "another adventure”, but a trip to the popular coastal region of Goa in India would sadly be Danielle McLaughlin's last.

The 28-year-old Irish woman was found naked and lifeless in a pool of blood on Tuesday after attending a party in Goa.

Local criminal Vikat Bhagat was arrested over the death.

Police said Bhagat confessed to killing her but denied raping her, Indian news said.

Before her departure a few weeks ago, Ms McLaughlin posted a haunting final message on Facebook: "Thank you to all my friends and family for making home so special and always looking after me.

"I am very grateful and the luckiest person I know ... off on another adventure.”

Ms McLaughlin had been at a party at the popular Palolom beach resort the night she died.

She was there to celebrate Holi - a festival that signifies the victory of good over evil - and was allegedly seen with the defendant just hours before her body was found, the Liverpool Echo reported.

Police superintendent Sammy Tavares said Ms McLaughlin's body was found naked in an isolated part of the beach.

Her family and friends were devastated after being told of her death - and described her as adventurous, sweet and beautiful.
