THE world-champion surfer who was assaulted outside her home last year has been reminded of the harrowing experience after having to identify her attacker.
Julius Fox was mentioned in Lismore Local Court this morning, accused of assaulting Stephanie Gilmore with an iron bar outside her Tweed Heads home in December.
Ms Gilmore, a four times world surfing champ, sustained a broken wrist and head injuries.
Mr Fox was charged with wound a person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and remains in custody.
During the case, that was mentioned in Lismore today, the prosecution said Ms Gilmore had to identify her attacker from a photograph and they were awaiting the result of that process.
The prosecution said it was a circumstantial case and identification was an issue.
Mr Fox did not appear in court.
