Oswald finally does some good as getaway car stuck in mud

POLICE have charged an adult and juvenile over the bungled break-in of a Boonah jewellery store.

It was believed three people wearing hoodies used sledge hammers to smash their way into the High St jewellers about 4am yesterday.

They took watches and other items before fleeing in a Holden Commodore.

Police believe the thieves did not get far before the getaway car became bogged in the flood-affected terrain.

It will be alleged members of the trio then abandoned the car and broke into a house nearby, stealing two cars and other property.

Detectives from Ipswich later charged a 24-year-old man with one count of break and enter of the jewellery store, one count of burglary of the house, plus two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

He will face Ipswich Magistrates Court today.

The 15-year-old juvenile was charged with one count of break and enter, relating to the robbery at the jewellery store.

Investigations into the incident were continuing last night, with further charges possible.
