Get the approval for development or risk council fines

BYRON Shire Council is warning residents about unauthorised developments and fire safety regulations over summer following a Mullumbimby man being convicted and fined $1500 and ordered to pay $300 costs for carrying out development without consent.

A garage containing asbestos was rented out by the man and was destroyed by fire in September.

Electricity was supplied to the shed via an extension cord from the main dwelling and no development consent had been granted to use the garage as a dwelling.
