'Get my gun' call sends would-be robbers packing
TWO would be armed robbers fled empty-handed after the shop owner called for his gun.
Gary John Allen, 26, and an accomplice carrying a knife had entered Malla & Sons Pizza and Pasta in Newtown about 8.15pm, December 7.
When Allen's accomplice yelled "Give me your money", the shop owner called to his son working in the store: "Go and get my gun".
The pair fled empty handed and got into a get-away car which crashed on leaving the scene.
The whole incident was captured on the store's CCTV camera and the culprits caught and arrested that night.

"I'm off the drugs and never going back," an apparently repentant Allen said, referring to the source of his offending.
His barrister Robbie Davies told the court his client had had an issue with drugs.
It was his client's first taste of jail and he instructed that he hated it and never wanted to go back, Mr Davies said.
Declaring four months pre-sentence custody as time served under the sentence, Judge Sarah Bradley sentenced Allen to 18 months jail but ordered he be released on parole immediately.
